My name is Steven McSeveney, I'm from central Scotland in the UK and I am a Sound Designer for videogames.
My background is very musical. I began playing instruments at a young age, including piano, guitar and drums. As a teenager I played in bands and started to write songs and sing. Playing live in front of a crowd is still one of my favourite things to do. I have made a career as a working guitarist in wedding and function bands for many years, as well as a live sound engineer for a variety of events.
My real passion started when I began studying sound production at college. Falling in love with audio manipulation and creating sonic experiences was my lightbulb moment. I had to make sound for videogames!
I have recently completed the MSc Sound Design course at Edinburgh Napier University in order to improve on my craft. I investigated realism vs. immersion regarding fantasy creature vocalisations, as I have always found this aspect of Sound Design fascinating. My Master's dissertation is a study on how audio can be used to aid visually impaired gamers to play 3D RPG's. My hope is to make it easier for more people to play more games! I also hold a BA in Popular Music (Perth UHI), an HND in Music Performance and an HNC in Sound Production (North Glasgow College).
I love animals! My wife and I live with our cat, Izzy and our dog, Kima. We are always happy to share pictures of our furry friends.
If you want to talk about guitars, Sci-Fi and Fantasy RPG's, or the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, then feel free to message me any time. I'm more than happy to nerd out!
